Travel Medical Insurance

What kind of international traveler are you?

People travel abroad for many different reasons. No matter what type of international trip you plan to take, be aware that your home country medical insurance may not cover you once you cross borders. Scan the different types of international travel below to determine what kind of travel medical insurance policy will work best for your situation.

Leisure Travel—Whether it’s the quintessential family vacation, a honeymoon abroad, or maybe just the trip you’ve always saved up for, traveling for leisure can be an exciting time. Purchasing an Atlas Travel medical insurance policy provides coverage for the unexpected illness or injury so you can focus on enjoying your international trip. Atlas policies also include various travel assistance services, such as lost passport and document support, and a benefit covering lost luggage.

If your trip includes traveling with a group of five or more people, you can take advantage of an Atlas Group policy. Atlas Group plans include the same benefits and services of an Atlas Travel policy with the added benefit of a 10% discount.

U.S. Visitor Travel— If you are planning a trip to the U.S., you may need to first obtain a visa. Visitor visas are nonimmigrant visas for trips to the U.S. for business (visa category B-1), tourism, or visiting (visa category B-2).

While traveling in the U.S., you’ll have access to quality medical care for any unexpected illnesses or injuries you may encounter during your trip. However, this care can be extremely costly. An Atlas Travel insurance policy can provide coverage for eligible expenses in the event of an accident or emergency as you travel within the U.S.

Study Abroad— If you are a full-time student or scholar preparing to study abroad, your home country medical insurance might not provide coverage for you while abroad. Studying abroad is an exciting opportunity to increase your cultural awareness as you continue with your higher education. As you explore your host country and experience different cultures, you won’t want to worry about the financial burden that could accompany a sudden unexpected illness or injury. StudentSecure study abroad insurance can provide reassurance for both you and your parents as you enjoy your adventure.

StudentSecure plans are offered in four levels of coverage, so you can choose the policy that fits both your travel situation and your budget.

Business Travel— Companies and industries of all sizes are expanding beyond their home country’s borders. If your work sends you abroad, you’ll need international medical coverage. A traditional Atlas Travel plan can provide you with adequate coverage, but if you find yourself traveling abroad multiple times a year for work, an Atlas MultiTrip plan might make the most sense.

Atlas MultiTrip is an annual insurance plan designed for multiple trips of up to 30-45 days, whichever you elect, throughout the year. With a convenient one-time payment, you can rest easy knowing any last-minute international trip will be covered.

Adventure Travel— If your international travel includes answering the call of the wild, you’ll want to be sure you’re covered for the unexpected. Thrill seekers and adventurers planning to ski, hike, or swim while traveling, run an increased risk of injury or illness. Select coverage for sports and other activities is included in an Atlas Travel policy at no extra cost to you.

Missionary Travel— Missionary travel can be a fulfilling and meaningful experience. As you travel abroad to help the less fortunate, you’ll want to be sure your own needs are covered with a travel medical insurance policy. An Atlas Travel insurance policy can provide you with emergency coverage as you accomplish your mission.

If you’re traveling with a group to perform missionary services, be sure to take advantage of an Atlas Group discount.

Trip Cancellation—You’ve spent a lot of money getting ready for your trip. Plane tickets, lodging, activity reservations – these are expenses you’ve paid up-front. But what happens if you suddenly have to cancel your trip or cut it short? Trip Cancellation Insurance protects the investments you’ve made for your leisure travel.

In partnership with Nationwide, our plan options provide coverage for events that happen before and during a specific leisure trip, including cancellation. You’ll even have some medical coverage for unexpected injuries and illnesses.
