How to File Your Complaint with the Insurance Commission via Mail or Email

You can file your insurance complaint or pre-need complain t thru mail or email, according to the Insurance Commission of the Philippines.

Some people commenting on our other blogs say they’re not receiving a reply from the IC, but we presume their documents are not complete. We suggest you complete your documents.

To ensure that your complaint is processed, send the following:

  1. Letter of complaint, including your specific request for help
  2. Copy of insurance policy or pre-need contract
  3. Police report, if this is related to the complaint, such in motor vehicle insurance claims

In your letter of complaint, include the following information:
(The IC didn’t say something about the Letter of Complaint. I compiled this list from complaint letters with the SEC, etc.)

1. Your complete name and address
2. Your insurance policy or pre-need plan:
– insurance policy name or pre-need plan name
– insurance or pre-need company name
– amount of insurance or pre-need plan
– insurance policy number or pre-need plan number
3. What the company failed to do for you, according to the provisions of the policy or contract
4. What specific action do you like the IC to help you with.

Note: Be calm in your letter. Don’t use cuss words. Be as factual as possible.

According to IC, the following steps are their standard operating procedures for handling emailed, mailed or faxed complaints:

1. Receing clerk receives complaint documents.
2. Complaint is registered on the Claims Register.
3. Action Officer reviews the complaint and contacts the complainant if needed.
4. Action Officer prepares notice of conference or referral letter.
5. Division Chief reviews notice of conference or referral letter and signs approval.
6. Releasing Clerk forwards notice or referral to the Releasing Section.
7. Notice of conference is sent to the complainant.
8. Action Officer or Division Chief conducts mediation conference.
9. Complainant and insurance firm representative arrives at a settlement.
9. Hearing Officer ensures compliance with settlement.
10.If there’s no settlement, or if complainant doesn’t accept the settlement, Division Chief or Action Officer advises complainant about filing a case in court or in any other forum
11. If settlement is accepted and complied with, the case is recorded in the IC List of Closed Cases.

it’s very unfair to Majar Damayan Group of Company and Cosmopolitan Chapel,that the recieved closure order from the commision how about the other company that the are selling memorial plan, but they are not a pre-need company like example The Freedomlife Insurance Agency operating in Mindanao and Visayas.

I’ve encountered same issue. Sa Sm rosario Cavite. May bago ngayon doon, Carehealth Plus. Sa 2nd floor. Di ko rin mairefund yung na down ko. Di dw pede yun. Hays. Panu naba ang gagawin.

Hi Awakening: it’s good na debit card pala ang nagamit para sa iyong payment. Sana na-close nio na noon pa. Kasi madali lang na i-close ang debit card. Ang nasa isip ko kasi credit card ang nagamit sa iyo. Usually kasi credit card ang nakukuha nila. Mahirap i-close ang credit card kasi the owner needs to pay the loan balance in full bago ma-close.
Yes. Close your current debit card account, yong nakuhang account number ng insurance company. Visit your bank branch, and then ask if you can close your present account, and then open a new one. Or puede ring iwidro mo na lahat ang pera mo, and then wait for it to get automatically closed. And then pag closed na, mag-open ka ng new.

Hello po,ms nora. Same po nangyare samin last nov 2016 sa robinson gallery galing po ako that time sa poea. Debit card din po yun akin. Nabawasan rin po yun balance ng atm ko that time. Ngayon po May 10 kailngan ko na,daw maghulog. Nag aalangan po ako kasi baka nga mascam lang ako kaya nag search ako kung ano ba dapat ko gawin kung icontinue,ko ba o,hindi. And then nakita ko nga po to. Kaya gusto ko sana humingi ng advice sa,dapat kong gawin. Nagpadala kasi sila sa bahay ng sulat at tawag at,ang kapatid ko ang nakatanggal neto dahil nasa abroad sya ang nakakatanggap. Ano ba dapat,kasi 0 balance na rin naman atm ko po. Kinash out ko na sya before ako bumalik ng ibang bansa. Kasi baka masayang lang ang ipapadala ko na pinaghirapan kng trabahuhan. Sana po matulungan nyo ko. As soon as,possible. This is something to do with Malayan Insurance. They are connected to RCBC. Last year, july. Someone called me from Malayan Insurance offering me a free travel insurance (and that’s very clear) so I said ok kung libre naman ay why not. Then after 2 months nakita ko sa bill ng credit card ko sa rcbc na sinisingil ako ng Malayan insurance at umabot n ng 8k+. FYI: wala kaming any agreement or kahit na anong pinirmahan ko. I reported this sa rcbc pero wala naman silang ginagawa. Instead of helping me, they are threatening me na idedemanda ako pag di nagbayad. So I called Malayan Insurance kahit long distance para lang iclear lahat. At ang sabi sakin na napakataray pa nung sumagot na “hindi ganyan mga tao namin” without letting me to explain at hindi man lang sila mag investigate. So I guess alam na nila ginagawa ng insurance company nila. At until now kung makapanakot sila sobra na parang ako ang may mali. One more thing, I found out na di lang pala ako ang navictim ng Malayan insurance at rcbc..yung cousin ko at 2 friends ko ganun din nangyari. Pero binayaran nalang nila kesa maabala. Pero bakit ko babayaran kung di naman ako nag agree sa kasunduan na need ko sila bayaran. Hindi biro kumita ng pera pero bakit sila ganun? Sobra naman. Nagsearch ako sa google kung pano to pwede maresolve at nakita ko nga to. This is too much.. sobrang pananakot na sakin kahit sila yung nanloloko. Hindi na tama at baka madami pa silang nabibiktima sa ngayon. I will email them para maging aware sa nangyayaring scam na to. Kaya guys pls beware sa mga natawag sanyo mga insurance company lalo na ang malayan insurance.

Hi khrizandra: Thank you for sharing your story here. It’s really sad that insurance and pre-need companies have been doing these kinds of deceitful sales and marketing tactics. It’s not only Malayan Insurance that’s doing these things. Kung i-compare natin sa iba, buti sa yo one-time deduction lang (accident insurance siguro yan?), yong sa PPLIC or Phil Prudential Life Insurance Co. na nagbebenta ng pre-need sa malls, continuous monthly deduction for 5 to 10 years. Naaawa nga ako sa office mate ng anak ko, mga 15k ang sahod, minus tax, then yong 9k ibabayad sa credit card, kasi nacha-charge yong card niya by PPLIC. Itinutuloy na lang niya at mga katulad niya ang payments kasi nabawasan na sila ng malalaking halaga. Napakabata pa nila at naloko agad sila. Paano na yong mga parents o family na nagde-depend din sa kanila. Kaya I salute Festival Mall because they removed all tenants na selling by deceitful methods, katulad ng PPLIC at Home Sonic, etc.

Good day po. policy holder po ako ng BF Life. nag mature na po policy last April 2011 ang sabi po sa akin may problema daw po sila kaya hindi daw po maibibigay ng buo ang claim ko. binigyan po nila ako ng certification na makukuha ko po ang pera dapat last August, September at October 2012, but sad to say hanggang ngayon po wala pa po akong nakukuha. wala na rin po ang office nila sa Intramuros at wala na rin po akong ma contact sa kanila. somebody advised me na humingi na po ng tulong sa inyo. At eto pong year n2 nagdecide po ako na i-cancell ung policy ko sa kadahilanan po na di na po ako capable magbayad ng premium dhil po sa krisis ngaun sa saudi. Ang sagot po ng COCOLIFE sa akin thru emai na tanging Cash Value worrth P15,435. Ask ko lng po kung justified ba ung Amount mattanggap ko? Wla rin pong explanation kung pano po naderived sa ganyang amount ung macclaim ko sa knila. Bsta ang sabi cash value lng marrefund ko. Mraming salamat po sa pagtuon ng pansin nyo sa hinaing ko.
